Guide shoe, floor sensor, and work light above the cab
On the left, a guide shoe, which guides the elevator cab along the rails, up and down the hoistway. On the right, a work light illuminates the drab unfinished drywall. In the center, the wide vertical strip is used to mount the floor sensors. The sensor circuit travels the length of this strip looking for magnetic sensors which indicate that the car has arrived at a floor.
