When there's something strange, in the neighborhood

Who you gonna call? That's right, Ghostbusters. How weird is this... As I went to snap this photo, my camera battery died. No worries, I figured, I have plenty more freshly charged batteries in my camera bag. I replaced the battery and turned the camera back on. As soon as the auto-focus engaged, the camera shut itself off once more. Strange, I thought, as I inserted yet another battery. It too was dead. I tried a fourth battery and it finally worked. It was as if this picture should not have been taken. As if this weren't strange enough, when I got home, my CompactFlash card was corrupt! I had to painstakingly repair almost 50 photos by hand - merging recovered chunks of files using a hex editor. How often does flash memory fail? Rarely to say the least! But weirder things have happened...
