Route 17 in Liberty, NY
New York State Route 17, running through Liberty, NY, as seen from the roof of the Jennie G building at Grossinger's resort. Ironically, although Grossinger's resort has been closed for decades, a Howard Johnson and a Days Inn both sit in the heart of town. Dark clouds sit overhead. There was a particularly bad storm this day; being on the roof was probably an extreme lightning risk. At one point, the hard hat I was wearing was actually lifted off my head by the wind. I was able to catch it before it flew away - but in that moment I imagined myself being taken by the wind and falling off the roof, 10 stories down to my doom.
