Otis traction elevator hoist motor

Directly under the elevator controller was the primary drive motor, which connected to the traction sheave via a worm gear, occluded by the motor in this photo. Note that despite the level of decay at this location, the motor itself is actually in decent shape, although the entire elevator would be unfit to operate (wait until you see the cab).
