Rose Electronics Master Switch
Amazingly, the company that made this dinosaur is still around today, and even still provides a datasheet on this archaic item. This unit is described as follows:
"The Master Switch is a versatile product for interconnecting your computers and peripherals using the common serial (RS232) and parallel (Centronics) interfaces of your equipment. [...] Used for printer sharing, modem sharing, data collection, machine control, and serial networking."
The kicker? It has "up to" a 4 megabyte buffer.
